The first of a series of pieces that began with the final scene of act four, and continued through act five. Each of these eight pieces gained in intensity as the scenes went on leading to the final confrontation between Macbeth and Macduff. This piece concludes with the only character theme in the entire play: that of Lady Macbeth.
